Rubbish Collection

Rubbish collection is on a Tuesday, we very much appreciate if you can put the bins out. You may need to place them at the end of the driveway so that they are a metre away from a parked car:

Internet

18 Yuille St has NBN Broadband WiFi internet.

WiFi username: TP-Link_066A

password (at the house)

TV

Lounge room: The small remote is for the DVD player, the larger for the TV. TV channels are on ‘DTV’, whereas select AV for DVD. Press ‘Source’ on the TV remote to alternate between them.

Front bedroom: The remote is for the TV, there is a set top box for the TV as well, unfortunately without a remote, so the TV channels need to be changed using the buttons on the set top box. If there is no reception, make sure the antenna is plugged into the wall next to the TV, and that the TV is set to AV (press source on remote and navigate to AV), and that the set top box is turned on. To use the DVD player, unplug the yellow, red, and white cords from the set top box and plug them into the DVD player.

Heating/Cooling

18 Yuille St has gas central heating. The thermostat is on the wall in the corridor. Flick the switch from Off to HEAT on the bottom right. Raise or lower the temperature to what you want with the up and down buttons. This is shown in the photo. Please try to turn off the heating upon checkout.

Because of the size and very high ceilings, the house may take a while to heat up initially. Close vents for rooms that do not need to be heated to speed up this process, and make sure vents are open for rooms that require heating. If no hot air is coming out of vents, contact us ASAP so that we can get in contact with a technician.

Air conditioning: The house does not have air-conditioning; the high ceilings and double brick walls keep the house cool in summer. We supply large pedestal fans in each room. In addition, there is an evaporative cooler in the lounge which just needs water added to the tank at the base (pull out from back).

Parking

You can park 1-2 cars on the side of the house. During business hours parking on the street can be difficult, however after business hours the street empties. Parking in front of the houses has no restrictions, on the opposite side of the street follow the parking signs.

Washing machine and laundromat

The washing machine is near the back door.  You will find washing powder in the shelving next to the laundry sink. If you run out let us know, we’ll drop more off. Check the taps behind the washer are open before you use the washing machine. Load clothes and sprinkle powder on the clothes. Select the settings you want or use the smart touch default settings. There is a retractable clothes’ line on the end of the veranda. Pegs are on the shelves in the laundry. There is also a clothes horse at the house.

If you need a dryer, there is a modern self-service laundromat and dry cleaners around the corner from the house,Cressbell's Dry Cleaners, 3 minute walk, open 6.30am to 10.30pm, $1 per 7 minutes for the dryer.

Kitchen

There is an Aldi Expressi capsule machine. You can buy an array of capsules from Aldi, $5.99 for 16 capsules. Make sure there is water in the tank at the back of the machine, turn the machine on, wait for the lights to stop flashing, make sure there isn’t a capsule in the machine by lifting the lever up. Push the lever back down and press the bottom button to rinse the machine. Discard the water and place a new capsule in the machine and select the desired coffee size (large or small). Rinse after use as well by lifting up the lever (the capsule should drop down), pushing the lever down again and press the rinse button.

Note that we also have a rice cooker, sandwich press, blender, and a number of other appliances in addition to a toaster and kettle.

The dishwasher is under the kitchen sink. It powers on with the square button on the right.  Select your wash and press the circled button in the picture to start. Dishwashing capsules are found above the dishwasher.

Let us know if you run out.

In the fridge you will find some basic breakfast amenities. Other kitchen stables are also provided.

Additional tea towels, sponges etc. can be found in the draws in the kitchen.

The griller and oven (photo adjacent) have some unusual switches. To turn them on flick the panel across the top of the oven up. Leave the Manual switch set at Manual. Turn the lower dial for oven temperature and the upper dial for the griller.

The cook top knobs (photo adjacent) turn anticlockwise. A hot hotplate is not always obvious so there are small lights next to the knobs to warn you if a hotplate is still hot.

BBQ

Turn the gas on the bottle by turning the green tap counter-clockwise. To make sure there is no leak you can use the soapy water test:

 Gas Leak Test

1.    Switch on the gas bottle without turning on the BBQ.

2.    Then spray the regular, valve and entire hose assembly up to where it attaches to the BBQ with the soapy water (a bottle is left with the BBQ).

3.    If a gas leak does occur, you will see bubbles form. And you will also smell gas.

-If this occurs, turn the valve off immediately and let us know.

The ignition spark lights the right most burner so turn the knob on that burner and press the ignition knob hard (circled in the image). If the ignition doesn’t work, you may need to lift the grill and light the burner with the lighter. Then turn the gas on the next burner – the lit one will ignite the next one. Please turn the gas off at the bottle after you use it.
