Guest Responsibility

We ask guests to clean all dishes for the next guest, as well as any major spills in the oven/microwave/fridge, as well as the BBQ if used. Also, if you have pets stay with you, we ask that they are kept off beds, and if they shed excessively also off furniture if possible. Upon checkout, if you can turn off central heating and leave keys back in the lockbox if you remember.

Please make sure to let us know if you run out of anything or would like anything dropped off, or if something needs fixing at the house etc.

We also rely on guest feedback and advice, so anything you can tell us is appreciated!

TV

The small remote is for the DVD player, the larger for the TV. Select the TV/AV button on the TV remote and select AV for the DVD player and DTV for the TV channels.

If there is a loss of reception, we’ve found retuning the TV has always worked, otherwise give us a buzz.

Internet

16 Yuille St has NBN Broadband WIFI internet, the modem is in the front bedroom. If the internet stops working or is slow, we’ve found rebooting the modem by turning the power off and waiting 30 seconds before plugging it back in has solved it in the past, however let us know if it still doesn’t work.

Wifi username: TP-Link_066

Wifi password: (provided at the house)

Heating/Cooling

16 Yuille St has gas central heating. The thermostat is on the wall in the kitchen. Just raise or lower the temperature to what you want. Please remember to turn off the heating upon check out.

  • If the heater doesn't turn on, first check to see if the switch has been turned off above the washing machine on the back porch (the white cord).

  • Because of the size and very high ceilings, the house may take a while to heat up initially. Close vents for rooms that do not need to be heated to speed up this process, and make sure vents are open for rooms that require heating. If no hot air is coming out of vents, contact us ASAP so that we can get in contact with a technician.

The house does not have air-conditioning. The high ceilings and double brick walls do keep the house cool without air conditioning. We have pedestal fans for every room. Don’t hesitate to phone us if the house is still too hot for you.

Parking

You can park one car in the driveway in front of the large green gate. The driveway behind the gate can fit one big and one smaller car (shown in the picture is a car parked behind the gate), but it is narrow. During business hours parking on the street can be difficult, however after business hours the street empties. Parking in front of the houses has no restrictions, on the opposite side of the street follow the parking signs.

Kitchen

  • There is an Aldi Expressi capsule machine. You can buy an array of capsules from Aldi, $5.99 for 16 capsules. Make sure there is water in the tank at the back of the machine, turn the machine on, wait for the lights to stop flashing, make sure there isn’t a capsule in the machine by lifting the lever up. Push the lever back down and press the right most button to rinse the machine. Discard the water and place a new capsule in the machine and select the desired coffee size (large or small). Rinse after use as well by lifting the lever (the capsule should drop down), pushing the lever down again and pressing the rinse button.

  • The dishwasher turns on with the square button on the left.  Select your wash preference heavy, normal, rapid with the round knob and press the square button on the right to Start. Dishwashing capsules are found under the sink, let us know if you run out and we’ll drop more off.

  • In the fridge you will find some basic breakfast amenities. (milk, eggs, bread and butter). Other kitchen stables are also provided. (salt, oil, vinegar etc.)

  • Additional tea towels, sponges etc. can be found in the draws in the kitchen. Again, let us know if you need anything.

  • In terms of appliances we have a rice cooker, sandwich press, toaster and kettle.

Washing machine and laundromat

The washing machine is on the back porch.  You will find washing powder under the laundry trough, although let us know if you run out so we can drop more off. Check the taps behind the washer are open before you use the washing machine.

Turn the knob to select the washing setting, then press the start/pause button to start the load.

If you need a dryer, there is a modern self-service laundromat and dry cleaners around the corner from the house, Cressbell's Dry Cleaners, 3 minute walk, open 6.30am to 10.30pm, $1 per 7 minutes for the dryer.

BBQ

Turn the gas on the bottle by turning the green tap counter-clockwise. To light the BBQ, lift the hotplate and use the lighter. To make sure there is no gas leak you can use the soapy water test:

Gas Leak Test

1.   Switch on the gas bottle without turning on the BBQ.

2.   Then spray the regular, valve and entire hose assembly up to where it attaches to the BBQ with the soapy water (a bottle is left with the BBQ).

3.   If a gas leak does occur, you will see bubbles form. And you will also smell gas.

-If this occurs, turn the valve off immediately and let us know. Please clean the BBQ after use.
